Future

Ubisoft has made a number of comments regarding upcoming releases. The creative director of Assassin's Creed III, Alex Hutchinson, stated in 2012 that popular fan requests for the game's settings, including World War II, ancient Egypt, and feudal Japan, were not likely to be included because they were deemed "boring" and unoriginal for the series. The Rifts in Assassin's Creed: Unity and the entirety of Assassin's Creed: Origins, however, have since allowed for the exploration of both World War II and ancient Egypt in the main game series.

In addition, Hutchison promised that they wouldn't make trilogies for just one protagonist, as they did with Ezio Auditore. After Unity, Darby McDevitt discussed the studio's plans to put more emphasis on the series' contemporary plot in upcoming games. Ubisoft has revealed an Assassin's Creed VR game for 2020.

In April 2021, Ubisoft unveiled a new transmedia initiative and a slew of new transmedia games. In addition, Ubisoft rebranded their titles into the categories of "Classics," for novelizations of the primary games, "Chronicles," for the retelling of well-known characters and settings in fresh stories, and "Originals," for tales that explore entirely new characters and settings.
